Recipe Old Fashioned Custard
You want the level of the hot water on the outside of the cup to be just at the level of the custard.
Recipe old fashioned custard. Pour into a greased 9 in. In a medium bowl whisk together the milk eggs salt and sugar. I adjusted the recipe somewhat to smaller portion.
This is similar to an old recipe my mother used to make. In a blender combine all ingredients. Fill the pan with hot water to a depth almost even to the top of the custard cups.
Bake at 350 for 50 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Cover and process until smooth. Place four 6 ounce custard cups ramekins in a large baking pan.
Cool on a wire rack for 1 hour. Place the custard cups in a large baking pan with sides that are nearly as tall as the custard cups. Pour the hot water around the custard cups being careful not to spill any water into the cups.
Divide the custard mixture evenly among the custard cups. If you like the real old fashioned egg custard the ratio of eggs to milk should be about 1 egg to 1 cup of milk.
