Baked Old Fashioned Rice Pudding Recipe
In a large bowl combine eggs sugar and salt.
Baked old fashioned rice pudding recipe. Set casserole into a larger ovenproof dish. Gradually whisk hot scalded milk into egg mixture. Preheat oven to 300 degrees f 150 degrees c.
Pour the milk and rice mixture into the ovenproof dish. Grate the whole nutmeg all over the surface it may seem a lot but it needs it then finally dot the butter on top in little flecks. Preheat oven to 325.
Fill larger pan with hot water half way up side of baking dish. Then slowly add the milk and cream and mix. Butter a large ovenproof dish.
Top with the knob of butter and sprinkle with nutmeg to taste. Set dish in a larger pan. Start by beating eggs and sugar together in a bowl.
Pour the mixture into a casserole dish that is oven safe and cook it in a water bath. Transfer to a greased 1 1 2 qt. Stir the pudding halfway through baking.
Pour into a greased quart casserole dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 1 2 to 2 hours. Stir in rice raisins and vanilla.
