Recipe Old Fashioned Egg Custard Pie
If you like the real old fashioned egg custard the ratio of eggs to milk should be about 1 egg to 1 cup of milk.
Recipe old fashioned egg custard pie. Preheat oven to 400 degrees f 205 degrees c. Bake on a lower oven rack until edges are golden brown 10 15 minutes. Beat your eggs slightly then add sugar salt nutmeg vanilla and milk.
Cut and fit a sheet of parchment paper inside piecrust. Beat well and pour into the unbaked pie shell. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
Sprinkle the top of pie with fresh ground nutmeg and serve. Next slowly add the egg custard mixture to the pie shell. It is made from eggs butter milk sugar a little flour for thickening and cornmeal for texture and a teaspoon of vanilla for flavor.
Line unpricked crust with a double thickness of foil. Sprinkle the top of the pie with fresh ground nutmeg and serve. This is similar to an old recipe my mother used to make.
Remove from oven and cool. Beat well and pour into the unbaked pie shell. Please adjust according to your oven cool on rack.
Preheat oven to 400. Pre heat the oven to 350 f. Fill with pie weights.
