Recipe Potato Soup Ham
Place potatoes ham and onions in a saucepot with a small amount of water enough to cover the potatoes and ham.
Recipe potato soup ham. Slowly add in milk continuing to stir so that no lumps form and cook until mixture is thick about 5 minutes. Cook stirring constantly until flour is golden about one minute. In a medium saucepan melt butter over medium heat and whisk in flour.
With a potato masher mash the soup a few times leaving plenty of whole chunks of potato. Pour in milk slowly and cook for 5 minutes until thickened stirring constantly with a whisk so that no lumps form. Skim fat if desired.
Add the potatoes milk and 3 4 teaspoon salt or to taste check the saltiness of your broth. Heat the butter in a pot over medium heat. Simmer until the potatoes are tender.
Bring to a boil then cook over medium heat until potatoes are tender about 10 to 15 minutes. Place diced potatoes onions celery and ham in a pot cover with broth and cook for 10 15 minutes until vegetables soften. Using a potato masher or fork mash the potatoes slightly to thicken.
Add the ham and potatoes cook for 2 minutes then add the garlic and sauté until fragrant about 30 seconds. Add more milk if the soup is too thick. Mix the flour through and cook for 2 minutes.
Add lots of pepper and enough salt to taste. Cook until potatoes are tender. Add in the ham bone along with the chicken stock and potatoes.
