Simply Recipes Scalloped Potatoes Gruyere
Delicious scalloped potatoes thinly sliced potatoes baked with butter bacon onion chives parsley gruyere parmesan and cream.
Simply recipes scalloped potatoes gruyere. Step 1 sauté onions until golden. Preheat oven to 350. Bake for 1 hour 30 minutes until potatoes are tender look brown and bubbly at the top.
Cook and stir until thickened about 2 minutes. See notes below for cooking in round pan. Add the sliced onions stir to coat with the olive oil and cook until golden brown about 15 to 20 minutes.
Layer butter at bottom of pan. In a small saucepan combine cream salt and garlic. Put the potatoes in a large saucepan with the garlic butter half and half thyme salt pepper and nutmeg.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bring to a simmer over low heat. Spray a 9 x13 baking dish with non stick cooking spray.
Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish or a large round cast iron pan. Slice into 1 8 slices either by hand or with a mandolin. Gradually whisk in milk.
Bring to a boil stirring constantly. Rub the garlic on the inside of an 8x8x2 casserole dish. Add remaining creams and gruyère then sprinkle at the top of smashed potatoes.
