And i must say the pastry recipe looks yummy.
Old fashioned baked egg custard recipe. Fold in sugar salt and flavorings. Beat 2 more minutes. The custard part was delish.
Sprinkle over a little nutmeg then bake for 50 60 mins until set. Place four 6 ounce custard cups ramekins in a large baking pan. 1 1 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract.
Pour into the slow cooker and cook covered on high heat for 1 1 2 to 2 hours until the tip of a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove 1 cup of the heated milk and slowly drizzle it into the egg mixture whisking the eggs quickly the entire time slowly pour the remainder of the milk over the egg mixture whisking constantly. Fill the pan with hot water to a depth almost even to the top of the custard cups.
Pour the custard into 10 6 ounce ramekins dividing the custard equally between the cups. Bake at 350 for 50 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Bake at 325 for 1 hour or until a knife inserted near middle comes out clean.
Cool on a wire rack for 1 hour. Heat the milk vanilla essence and sugar in a small pan until nearly boiling then pour the mixture over the beaten egg stirring continuously. In a mixing bowl or food processor beat together the eggs sugar and salt until thoroughly combined.
Instead of a gallon of milk i used a quart. Place the ramekins in a 9x13 inch baking pan. I love the custard and usually skip the crust so i just bought a crust unrolled it and baked it with the custard.
