Recipe Old Fashioned Apple Dumpling
Cold unsalted butter cut into cubes.
Recipe old fashioned apple dumpling. Generously sprinkle half the remaining sugar mixture on apples. Place an apple on each pastry square with the cored opening facing upward. Mix together 4 tablespoons sugar cinnamon and nutmeg.
Peel and slice the apples in half remove the core and set aside. Mix the raisins and nuts together and fill center of each apple. Place 1 piece of butter in the opening of each apple.
2 cups 10 oz 315 g all purpose flour. 2 1 2 oz 75 g unsalted butter melted and cooled. For the almond streusel.
Rinse in cold water and pat dry with a paper towel. Fill cores with a little sugar mixture. Sprinkle the apple slices with brown sugar cinnamon and nutmeg.
Prep time 20 minutes. Cut into 6 square pieces. On a lightly floured surface roll pastry into a large rectangle about 24 by 16 inches.
Place 1 apple in center of each dough square. Cook time 35 minutes. Moisten the corners of the squares and bring 2 opposing corners of pastry up over the apple and press together tightly.
